Common Dental Emergencies We Treat

Not sure whether or not your situation warrants itself as an emergency, or your child is in pain but you aren’t sure what to do? Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Knocked Out or Chipped Teeth — When possible, locate the tooth fragment and immediately place it into a cup of milk or contact solution. Whole teeth can be gently rinsed and placed back into the socket, if possible. Bring the tooth to our office immediately. If the tooth is bumped, let us know if signs of discoloration or mobility begin to develop.
  • Facial Swelling or Swelling Along the Gums — A pimple or bump along the gums is indicative of a dental abscess. All dental abscesses should be taken seriously as they can lead to pain and systemic infection. When in doubt, call our office and your child will be seen as soon as possible.
  • Pain When Eating — If your child is unable to bite or chew his or her food, it can prevent them from having a balanced diet and may be a signal that something is wrong with a specific tooth. Schedule an exam right away.
